Shit vodafone connection

Postby thorns » Tue Mar 23, 2010 9:02 pm

Been having issues online gaming since we moved to teh new flat. At times its fine, then it will just lag real bad and lose connection. Did this test, and it pretty much sums it up

Is there anything on my end that could be causing this? Or is it simply a VF problem?
Really pissing me off as we never had a issue at our last place,

Hmm in my experience with other people I know in Wellington is that VF is one of the worst broadband providers to ever use. I'd highly say it is a VF problem.

Yep id agree with steala. Vodaphone dont have the knowledge or expertise to run internet unlike our good friends at telecom. Voda should stick to mobiles lol

Yip excat same setup as last place.
Have spoken to vodafone and they dont seem to be much help, saying theres nothing they can de, and then suggesr rebooting the modem and PC.

It seems to work well during the day, have been playing iRacing this morning no worries, but at evening in peak times I guess it is next to fuckin useless. Am seriously considering switching to telstra clear if they cant find a solution, was going to originally, but then decided to stick with VF as they had been great last year, bad mistake it seems......

Yip can get telstra cable.

The problem seems to get worse when the girlfriend is using her laptop on the wireless connection.

most routers/modems have some details you can get out of them that indicate the quality of your line/connection and speed.

cant remeber what they are called will have to look into it.

whats your model of modem?

Right well its defintily the upload that is causing my issues. Got the girlfriend to turn off her laptop, and everthing runs fine, no dramas with gaming. Then got her to turn it back on and upload a photo, and immediately the lag meter went through the roof. She does a lot of blogging and uploading photos in teh evening, so our joke of an upload rate is what is killing it.

So what can we do from here? Tried ringing VF tonight, but was on hold for 20minutes before giving up, will try again tomorrow.

Are there any things I can try here on my end?
